High School Essay/Art Contest

We're proud to live and work in diverse community that supports racial equality and the fight against racial injustice. The number of people in support of this issue was apparent in the size of the local protest over the weekend. What’s incredible is to see this movement led by the younger generation, who are the future of our community and country.

We feel it’s important to support the voices of the youth, and are holding an essay/art contest on the topic of race and community.

For anyone attending Montclair High School or a local high school in the surrounding areas, we are holding an essay/art contest with a $100 prize for each of the top 3 essayist/artist. We would love to hear your ideas on the following:

What does race mean to you? How has it shaped your experience living in your community? What are some ways you think we can improve on the issue of racial inequality?

This topic can be addressed in form of an essay, a piece of art, or poem or musical composition of your preference (please let us know if you have different platform you’d like to express through). If you submit a piece of art, please be sure to include a short video or writing to explain it and how it addresses the topic.

Following the contest, we’ll also be holding a community forum on Facebook live to showcare the thoughts and ideas behind your submissions!

Are you interested? Please email us at doctors@kahnhealth.com with your

  • Name, age, grade, and the school you attend
